(SPEAKER 1): The worst part of close passes is that you can hear them coming and there's just nothing you can really do about it. I'm a mom and someone who relies on biking and transit to get around. (AUDIO DESCRIPTION): A woman rides her bike with her small child seated in the back. SPEAKER 1: I wish I could say cars gave us more space - but they don't. (AUDIO DESCRIPTION): Three residents of South Park standing on the street with no sidewalks. SPEAKER 2: We live in the South Park neighborhood where there are lots of streets without sidewalks. When a car passes by me going fast, it scares me. SPEAKER 3: It's terrifying! SPEAKER 4: It's really frightening. (AUDIO DESCRIPTION): A man drives his power chair on a street with no sidewalks. SPEAKER 5: As a wheelchair user, this road is terrifying because there are no sidewalks or barriers between me and the cars. I don't know if a car will see me and give me space. SPEAKER 1: Washington State recently passed a new law that says any vehicle passing someone walking, rolling or biking must move into another lane if one is available. SPEAKER 5: It also says that if a full lane is not available, you should leave at least 3 feet of space to keep us safe. SPEAKER 2: The law goes into effect January 1st, 2020. SPEAKER 5: Move over!
