Transcript of ÒMental Health Advocacy - PhyllisÓ produced by Mental Voices Africa and Rooted in Rights PHYLLIS: I was looking for help on social media. Facebook to be specific. And I decided to type, "I need help." And, I didn't get the help easily. My name is Phyllis. I'm so passionate about sexual abuse prevention and mental health. I went back to social media and started enlightening passionately about mental health, because I realized, there was gap. I started by posting mental illness information?on my personal page. With time, I realized it was more than just a post. And I created a page Mind Safari Nature-Talk Therapy, where, currently, I do my stories, other peoples' stories and any mental health information? including mental health rights. I would like, also, the society to be aware? of CRPD Article 8 which emphasizes mostly on raising awareness. Because without information ?many will continue to suffer in silence.? For those who are living with a disability, ?for those who are knowledgeable about mental health, ?for the organization dealing with mental health,? and the government? we can really reach the society?. And, probably, reduce the rate of stigma and discrimination. Thank you. End of transcript.
